The Manipur Forest Department, along with local communities, conducted satellite tagging to study Amur falcon migration. Two falcons, Chiuluan 2 (male) and Gwangram (female), were tagged and released on November 8, 2023, in Tamenglong district, Manipur.
Amur Falcon (Falco amurensis)

- Conservation Status: Protected under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972
- Breeding Range: Southeast Russia & Northeast China
- Wintering Grounds: Southern Africa (Botswana, South Africa)
- Migration Distance: ~20,000 km (one of the longest migratory routes of any bird)
- Key Stopover Sites: Northeast India (Manipur, Nagaland), Somalia
