Only green firecrackers will be sold in the Delhi for Diwali, in accordance with the Supreme Court (SC) orders
About Green Crackers:
- Green crackers are low-emission fireworks, free of harmful chemicals like sulphur, nitrates, arsenic, magnesium, sodium, lead, and barium, reducing emissions by up to 30%.
- They produce noise in the range of 100-130 decibels.
- They come with a green logo and Quick Response (QR) code for easy differentiation from conventional firecrackers.
- Developed by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), they fall under three categories:

- SWAS (Safe Water Releaser): Releases water vapor to reduce dust, contains no potassium nitrate or sulphur, reducing particulate release by 30%.
- STAR (Safe Thermite Cracker): Free of potassium nitrate and sulphur, it emits lower particulate matter and has reduced sound.
- SAFAL (Safe Minimal Aluminium): Uses minimal aluminum, replacing it with magnesium, reducing sound compared to traditional crackers.
