Mukhyamantrir Atmanirbhar Assam Abhiyan: Distribution of 1st Tranche to Youths

On September 30, 2024, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma distributed the first installment of Rs. 75,000 each to 25,238 beneficiaries under the Mukhyamantrir Atmanirbhar Assam Abhiyan at the Veterinary College Field in Guwahati.

The Mukhyamantrir Atmanirbhar Assam Abhiyan is designed to promote self-reliance and entrepreneurship among the youth of Assam.

Key features include:

  • Youth will be divided into two categories:
  • Technical Degree Holders: Unemployed graduates in fields like engineering, MBBS, agriculture, etc., will receive Rs. 5 lakh (Rs. 2.5 lakh grant + Rs. 2.5 lakh loan).
  • General Degree Holders or Below: Unemployed post-graduates, general graduates, ITI, and polytechnic pass-outs will get Rs. 2 lakh (Rs. 1 lakh grant + Rs. 1 lakh loan).
  • Target: The scheme covers 2 lakh youth over two years, focusing on those from low-income families and BPL households.
  • Sectors Covered: The scheme supports a wide range of sectors, including agriculture, dairy, fisheries, poultry, garment making, and wood-based industries, among others.
  • Training and Support: Beneficiaries undergo one month of skill-based training in entrepreneurship and management, along with a stipend during the training period

This initiative stands as a stepping stone toward economic independence for Assam’s youth, fostering growth in diverse sectors across the state.
