OPERATION BRAHMA: INDIA’S HUMANITARIAN RESPONSE TO MYANMAR EARTHQUAKE

  • Launch of Operation Brahma: In response to the devastating earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand on March 28, 2025, India initiated Operation Brahma to assist Myanmar.
  • Joint HADR Efforts: Coordinated by the MEA, along with the Indian Army, Air Force, Navy, and NDRF.
  • Naval Deployment:
    • INS Satpura and INS Savitri sailed from the Eastern Naval Command to Yangon on March 29.
    • INS Karmuk and LCU 52 from the Andaman and Nicobar Command departed on March 30.
  • Relief Materials: Over 52 tons of essential supplies, including clothing, drinking water, food, medicines, and emergency stores.
  • India’s Commitment: Reaffirms India’s role as the ‘First Responder’ in the region during crises.
