It is The Energy and Resources Institute’s (TERI) premier event held each year.
Since its founding in 2001, the Summit series has contributed to the globalization of ’sustainable development’ over a period of more than 20 years.
It is the only globally organized summit on sustainable development and the environment that is centered in the Global South.
WSDS brings together the most enlightened leaders and intellectuals on the planet on a single platform in an effort to deliver sustainable solutions for the benefit of global communities.
The Ministries of Earth Sciences, Forests, Climate Change, and New and Renewable Energy and Environment (MoEFCC) are the parties participating.
Key facts about World Sustainable Development Summit-2024
The summit’s 23rd iteration is called WSDS 2024.
The theme of WSDS 2024 is ‘Leadership for the Sustainable Development and Climate Justice’.
Discussion points include incorporating Sustainable Development, using natural solutions, fostering resilience and adaptability, tackling the energy trilemma, and taking action on climate change.
A significant publication ‘Vasundhara Magazine’ will be introduced in its fourteenth edition, ‘EquiClimate’ with the theme- Climate Injustice: Vulnerabilities of the Vulnerable’
Raising awareness: ‘Cool it for the climate’ It holds a poster-making competition for schoolchildren with the goal of promoting easy, sustainable behaviours as part of a behaviour change program.
The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI):
Leading think tank TERI is committed to doing research for India’s and the Global South’s sustainable development.
It is a multifaceted, autonomous organization with expertise in policy, implementation, consulting, and research.
It was founded in 1974 as a resource for energy-related information.
TERI’s research operations began in late 1982, motivated by the organization’s strong belief that development would be accelerated by the efficient use of energy and the sustainable use of natural resources.
