Context: The World Sustainable Development Summit in Delhi was inaugurated by the Vice-President of India. World Sustainable Development Summit:

  • This major multistakeholder gathering takes place every year. The Delhi Sustainable Development Summit was the name of the event before.

  •  It is The Energy and Resources Institute’s (TERI) premier event held each year.

  • Since its founding in 2001, the Summit series has contributed to the globalization of ’sustainable development’ over a period of more than 20 years.

  • It is the only globally organized summit on sustainable development and the environment that is centered in the Global South.

  •  WSDS brings together the most enlightened leaders and intellectuals on the planet on a single platform in an effort to deliver sustainable solutions for the benefit of global communities.

  • The Ministries of Earth Sciences, Forests, Climate Change, and New and Renewable Energy and Environment (MoEFCC) are the parties participating.
