Target Group: Meritorious students aged 13 to 18, studying in classes IX to XII in government schools.
Mentor-Mentee Model: Provides support through mentoring for career guidance, progression, and incentives.
Objectives of the Arohan Scheme:
Enhance Literacy Rate: Improve literacy levels across the state.
Financial Assistance: Offer financial support to government school students.
Career Guidance: Provide comprehensive career guidance and support.
Support Meritorious Students: Assist outstanding students in government schools.
Benefits Under the Assam Arohan Scheme:
Book Grant: Rs. 1,000 grant to all selected students.
Direct Transfer: Grant transferred to beneficiaries' bank accounts via DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer).
Interactive Sessions: Opportunities to interact with prominent state figures such as IAS officers, SPs, and DCs.
Career Exposure: Access to career guidance and exposure to various fields.
During their exposure visit, mentees visited premier institutions and organizations like-
IIT, Guwahati, AIIMS, Guwahati, Guwahati Biotech Park, Narangi Military Station, Assam Administrative Staff College, Regional Science Centre, Planetarium, State Museum, State Zoo and Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra.
Eligibility Criteria:
Permanent resident of Assam.
Must be registered in a government school in Assam.
Applicable to students from Class 9 to 12.
Includes Tea Garden model schools, Adarsha Vidyalayas, and Kasturba Schools.
Mentors: Senior government officials (serving and retired), school alumni, teachers, PG degree holders, and successful entrepreneurs.
