PM KISAN is a Central Sector scheme with 100% funding from Government of India. It has become operational from 1.12.2018.
- Objective: Provide financial assistance to all landholding farmer families across India
- Implementing Agency: Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (DA&FW)
Key Features
- Income Support: ₹6,000 per year, given in three equal instalments of ₹2,000 each
- Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT): Funds transferred directly to farmers’ bank accounts
Eligibility:
- All landholding farmer families with cultivable land
- Family includes husband, wife, and minor children
- Beneficiary Identification: Responsibility of State/UT Governments
- KCC Linkage: Linked with Kisan Credit Card (KCC) for easy access to credit
Exclusion Categories
- Institutional Landholders
- High Economic Status Families, including:
- Former/Present Ministers, MPs, MLAs, Mayors, and District Panchayat Chiefs
Government Employees & Pensioners: - All Central/State Govt. employees (except MTS, Class IV, and Group D)
- Retired pensioners with ₹10,000+ monthly pension (except MTS, Class IV, and Group D retirees)
- Income Taxpayers (last assessment year)
- Professionals (Doctors, Engineers, Lawyers, CAs, Architects)
